When Your Abuser is Someone You Trust: Date Rape and Consent in India. In this episode, we explored the complex and often overlooked reality of date rape — a form of sexual assault where the perpetrator is not a stranger, but someone close: a friend, boyfriend, or someone the victim trusts.We discussed how date rape differs from stranger rape, both in how it happens and how society responds to it, especially within the Indian cultural context. We highlighted the mental and emotional toll on survivors — the confusion, betrayal, guilt, and silence they often endure.In India, date rape is still a crime under the law — consent cannot be assumed based on relationships or past intimacy.
