As the ‘90s came to a close, Slipknot unleashed their eventual multi-platinum “debut” album seemingly out of nowhere. They quickly followed this up with arguably the heaviest album to crack the Billboard Top 5.The rapid success and constant touring during this period placed a lot of pressure on Slipknot’s nine members and strained their relationships with each other. With the band on the verge of a breakup, they turned their attention to other projects and went their separate ways.They reconvened a few years later in Los Angeles alongside a new, eccentric producer to begin working on a third full-length.
