Episode Description
Over 130 heads of state and government will make their annual pilgrimage to the United Nations in New York next week for the High Level Segment of the recently convened 71st session of the General Assembly. And while this year's gathering is expected to be somewhat less congested than 2015's jam-packed programme that included the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and a visit by the Pope in additional to the General Debate, the issues to be addressed are no less urgent. It's a unique opportunity for just about everyone in geo politics to meet on an equal footing amidst a frenzied media focus, a highly sophisticated security apparatus and bottles and bottles of hand-sanitizer. Sherwin Bryce-Pease looks ahead.
