#72 - Unlocking Creativity... Or Why You Need A Producer In The Studio
from Business Side of Music · host The Business Side of Music Podcast
When getting ready to head into the studio, you have to ask yourself some questions. Do you know what pre-production is? Is your music good enough that it actually takes your listeners somewhere? Do I need a producer, and what does he or she actually do for me? Meet Michael Beinhorn, producer for such acts as Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson, and Herbie Hancock. He's written a book titled "Unlocking Creativity", describing in detail the complete recording process from setting up the correct pre-production, to choosing the right studio, engineer and producer, to making sure you take the time to record your music by thinking quality over quantity. Michael shares his thoughts on what it takes to be successful in the studio, and how his book can address some unforeseen problems or issues, along with you as the artist avoiding costly mistakes.
