73. Let's Get Real w/ Val & Tiff about the Momlife, Part 3 - Personality Parenting & Being a Standard Bearer Mom

from Practically Speaking Mom: Intentional Mom, Strong Family · host Val Harrison, The Practically Speaking MOM

We  finish up my  discussion with Tiffany  by looking at ways to personality parent – adjusting your parenting  based on the personality of your child but not adjusting the standard, all with a goal of equipping your unique child to thrive in the world around them.  We look at specific parenting dilemmas in dealing with the unique personality of our child.  You'll learn about  the three options for how we as moms handle general  STANDARDS when our kids are not general; they're each unique in their struggles and giftings .  Are you a Standard Quitter, Standard Brute, or Standard Bearer?Click here for the full blog post connected to this episode and theme In this episode, Tiffany asks, "One thing I've been working on and working through and working on is making space for and validating those big feelings they are having - whether it is extremely emotional or frustration - without  compromising respect, boundaries, or expectations in the process of working through them." Parenting is a process, so there's no solution that can be implemented that immediately eliminates the struggle.  Progress is usually gradual, not instantaneous. We want to help our kids understand themselves better and equip them to handle themselves throughout their life.  We do this by managing them in ways that we want them to manage themselves in the future.   You as mom are standing in the gap for now, until they are able to manage themselves. 1. Verbalize the standard we're working toward, make it clear in their mind  2. Give them a framework for understanding themselves better and equipping them to reach toward the standard 3.  Stay clear, calm, and consistent with the standardsResources related to this episodeDealing with Lying in Your Child: Ways to Impact the Heart of Your Child part 1 episode 4    Send Val your encouragement and thoughts about the show.Support the showVisit Val's website: PracticallySpeakingMOM.comJoin Val's Facebook Group Intentional Mom, Strong FamilyFollow Val on Instagram and her Facebook Public Page Practically Speaking MOMWe're on a mission to strengthen families.Want to help cover some of the costs of the show? click here.
