The businessman kept looking at his wristwatch and squinting toward the front of the line. The poet was observing everything—other people, puffs of cloud overhead, the texture of gravel underfoot. The businessman said to the poet, “Ugh! Don’t you hate how much of the day is wasted waiting for things?” The poet responded, “I’m not waiting.
