74 - HE REFUSED TO ABANDON THE ALAMO | Lt. James Bonham (Soldier & Courier) | 1836

from Heroes For Freedom | Patriotic, Conservatives, Christians, Families, Heroes, WW1, WW2, Revolutionary War · host Rick Robison - Patriot, Historian, & Former Intel Officer

It is hard to understand the true nature of the sacrifice of the Alamo in American and Texas history without looking at the life and service of one of its stalwart defenders.   His name, James Butler Bonham, truly one of the least known, yet most devoted soldiers who fought to the death defending the eleven women and nine children who were also in the Alamo that fateful day of March 6, 1836.   Lieutenant Bonham was young with his whole life ahead of him. But when given the chance to flee to safety and to avoid the final slaughter, he chose to return to the fort and stand with its defenders.   He called them his brothers, and the example he set for us today is as worthy as any we might look to in the history of this illustrious nation.   James Bonham’s actions testify that the freedoms we often take for granted today are never free and never have been.   Someone has paid…and paid dearly.   I’m Rick Robison and this is the HEROES FOR FREEDOM Podcast.   **Want more incredible stories like these for your home??** ---> HEROES FOR FREEDOM MANUALS (Volumes 1-3) - Purchase on Amazon!   OTHER EPISODES YOU MAY LIKE:   38 - THE ALAMO'S DIVINE SECRET | The Battle of the Alamo | 1836 64 - FACING THE GREAT UNKNOWN...
