74: My Son Just Walked Into the Hardest Thing America Asks Anyone to Do and His Name Means Messenger of God

This is a different episode. No political news. No conspiracy. No culture war. My son Malachi David stepped into Marine Corps Recruit Training this week and tomorrow is Pick Up Day, the day the Drill Instructors come and take him and everything changes. This is me talking about the past four days, what I've been feeling, and what I've learned about what he is walking into, including a full breakdown of every phase of Marine Corps boot camp, what every week means, what the Crucible is and why it is the most defining 54 hours of a young person's life, and what the infantry journey looks like from here. We're also talking about who the Marines are and why they are the hardest branch in the military to join physically and mentally. And we're closing with the name Malachi David, what it means, why I chose it, what David wrote in the Psalms, and the one verse I am speaking over my son every single day for the next 13 weeks. Faith. Fire. God. Country. In that order. Always.
