74. What's In My MOM BOX? Common Tools that make motherhood more manageable, Part 1 - Episode 74
from Practically Speaking Mom: Intentional Mom, Strong Family · host Val Harrison, The Practically Speaking MOM
I used to give a talk years ago where I would show all the things in my mom box - literally a cute little box that contained mom tools, common objects, to make my life simpler, make my parenting more effective, and items that would help the RELATIONSHIPS IN OUR FAMILY. Today, in Episode 74, "What's In My MOM BOX?" part 1, we’re opening up my Mom Box to find my favorite tangible tools for making motherhood more manageable. Some of the items that have been essential in my Mom Box have been items that REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF NEGATIVE NEWS THAT MY MOUTH HAS TO DELIVER TO MY KIDS. AND reducing negative news coming from me means better relationships! These tools are simple objects, but they are so helpful! By the way, many moms don't like delivering negative news, so they simply don't, but the truth is, OUR KIDS NEED TO RECEIVE SOME NEGATIVE NEWS. They need to experience flexibility, stick-to-it-iveness, diligence, disappointment. They NEED negative news to be a part of their lives. (Negative news such as, "You left out an important step when you did that chore," or "You owe me $5" or "It's time to come inside from playing" or "Everyone come help cleanup.") There's SO many things in a day that must be communicated that is not happy news. How can we still get those messages to our kids, without it requiring my mouth? This was my question, years ago, and so I was on a mission to identify ways to accomplish this goal. Thus was born my MOM BOX. What's Coming:❤Next week, Episode 75, we get to switch gears to items that INCREASE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT! Also next week, we will look at my "BRAIN BOOKS," and I'll tell you how you can make yours. I'm NOT talking about a craft project (trust me, I will never be teaching a craft project, not my skill set!). This is gonna be a game-changer for reducing overwhelm and stress in your life! I can't wait to share about my brain books with you! They aren't something you buy, they are a way of organizing your brain and all the things that you are trying to keep it that just won't fit!❤Episode 76 & 77 ListSend Val your encouragement and thoughts about the show.Support the showVisit Val's website: PracticallySpeakingMOM.comJoin Val's Facebook Group Intentional Mom, Strong FamilyFollow Val on Instagram and her Facebook Public Page Practically Speaking MOMWe're on a mission to strengthen families.Want to help cover some of the costs of the show? click here.
