75. Advent: Reconciled Through Christ’s Peace

Send us Fan MailThis week, we’ve been reflecting on the gift of peace during Advent. Today, we’ll explore how Christ’s peace reconciles us—first with God, then with one another. Our focus scripture is Ephesians 2:14-16: “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility” (Ephesians 2:14-16, ESV).Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to restore broken relationships and bring unity where there was once division. Let’s reflect on this powerful truth. Ephesians 2:14 begins with the bold statement: “He himself is our peace.” Christ’s death on the cross removes the barrier of sin that separated us from God. John Piper explains: “Peace with God is the foundation for all other peace. If we don’t have peace with Him, we can’t have true peace anywhere else.”Romans 5:1 confirms this: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1, ESV).
