75: Everything You Need to Know About History Timelines

from Homeschool Made Simple

We love to use history timelines as a way to help children visualize history as they learn about it.Our literature based approach strongly emphasizes history as the core of our curriculum. We want children to have a thorough understanding of the men and women of history. As your family learns about a time period and you write it down on a timeline, you see how King David lived in the same time period as Homer.History becomes more than dates and facts. The child’s understanding of it becomes an integrated whole.A timeline is especially helpful for children to see the progression from one time period to another. Time is such an abstract concept. Creating history timelines help children have a more concrete understanding of time. This episode goes into greater depth about what to expect from your kids when creating a history timeline. Carole Joy Seid shares her general approach to history, why she recommends creating history timelines with your children, and her tips and tricks to timelines.Listen in.To watch Carole's YouTube video on this, click HERE.Click HERE for the show notes.
