We talk a lot about boundaries, where we draw the line, what we won’t accept and what happens when something goes too far. Lately I’ve been wondering if standards might come first. Not only what I refuse, but what I choose to live by. In this chapter of Collecting Maps, I explore five standards that keep returning for me: Truth. Self-loyalty. Responsibility. Reciprocity. Expansion. Not rules for someone else and not a checklist another person has to pass. Standards for how I want to love. A boundary tells me what happens when something becomes unacceptable. A standard tells me what I want to build around in the first place. Maybe the deeper question isn’t only "Where are my boundaries?". Maybe it’s: "What are the standards I want to live by, even when love makes them inconvenient?" Stay curious. Stay honest. Stay present. Stay human.
