75: The truth about credentialing during a dental transition (Purchase/Sale)

There are many misconceptions about the do's and don'ts during the credentialing process when you are purchasing a practice or joining a new practice as an associate or owner. The truth is, credentialing takes time and no matter what dental insurance people tell you, always prepare for the worst. Some PPO's take a full year to get credentialed. Most are between 60 to 120 days. But be prepared for insurance plans to lose your paperwork, request the same items over and over again; and even give you the wrong effective dates.
