75 Years of Horse Whispering and Working with Johnny Leverett

I had no idea that I'd end up boarding our horses with one of the greatest horse whisperers of all time this summer in Colorado. He turned out to be a friend of a friend of a friend, and was described to me as more of a horse person than a people person. Real horse people usually understand this about one another and get along anyways, which we did.A few things of note about this amazing interview: Johnny had the honor of blessing our horse trailer with our very first interview EVER inside the dream horse trailer itself! This was a very special moment for us, as the audio went great with all the soft walls. Our trailer had been parked at Green Mesa Ranch for over a week at that point, and I had been joking with Johnny about wanting to do an interview the whole time, but it was not until this moment that it actually transpired, and it was awesome. Prior to our interview, he gave me a portfolio of magazine articles, and newspaper clippings about his work over the past few decades, so I knew I was in for a treat if he'd let me record our conversation. Johnny Leverett is also just an all around stand up character, to know him is to laugh with him, and there is a lightness in the air when he works. It was truly an honor.The other thing about this connection is that he worked with my horse Jet. Honestly, I have not had anyone work with Jet in many, many years, doing most of the work myself, but to have a professional with so much experience work with and fall in love with my horse was very special. It was amazing to see someone else's approach to the same problem I had been dealing with for years in a new way.
