#76 - Joris Vercammen, aartsbisschop van de Oudkatholieke Kerk (S01)

'De toekomst van de kerk is het bescheiden meezoeken met de zinzoekers in de samenleving.' Joris Vercammen is de Oudkatholieke aartsbisschop van Utrecht. Hij groeide op in een Rooms-Katholiek gezin in België en werd daar ook priester. Omdat hij wilde trouwen met zijn grote liefde verliet hij kerk en vaderland en stapte hij in 1988 over naar de Oud-Katholieke Kerk van Nederland. Sinds 2000 is hij de aartsbisschop van Utrecht. Zijn vader was burgemeester, maar zelf wilde hij al van jongs af aan priester worden. Elsbeth Gruteke praat met hem over deze vroege roeping, zijn kerkgenootschap en de toekomst van de kerk. "Geloof wordt doorgegeven door levende mensen, onze levens, niet wat we zeggen, maar wat we doen getuigt van het evangelie, dat de Geest werkzaam is en de mens tot een groter geheel behoort."
