76 - The Witch (2015) Review

from The Final Podcast · host The Final Podcast

72 episodes prior, we reviewed The Lighthouse, Robert Eggers' 2nd movie following his 2015 hit, The Witch. It's only proper that we give his debut movie it's time in the sun. For the 2nd week of Spooky Season, we review The Witch and oh boy does this movie know how to create a creepy atmosphere. Eggers certainly knows how to depict a time period and portray unsettling moments on-screen for his viewers - we're here for it!In The Witch, a family leaves a commonwealth in 1630's New England to live in the middle of the woods. When their fortune turns from bad to worse, they blame witchcraft. This movie feels so special because it turns away from conventional Hollywood witches we've seen in the past and uses the history to piece together what suspicion of witchcraft looked like with the spin of a supernatural entity within the woods. Definitely a watch for any Spooky Bitches worth their salt, but just one note- keep subtitles on!Music Credit: Karl Casey @ White Bat Audiohttps://www.youtube.com/whitebataudioAs always, a special thanks to Green Knuckle Material. Please like and check out their events on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GKMband/Follow our friends on Instagram  https://www.instagram.com/gkmband/Follow our boys on Twitter  https://twitter.com/gkmbandnjWhat should we review next?
