from The FAKTR Podcast · host Jessica Riddle, Todd Riddle

Concussion Guidelines for Return-to-Play with Dr. Mike Olson, Part 2Concussion management and post-concussion care is multifaceted and highly individualized.  One person may have a fairly easy recovery and little long-term effects from a head injury whereas another person with an almost identical brain trauma can be permanently disabled. The scientific community has made incredible advances in the last decade in our understanding of the short and long term effects of concussion, but there are still a number of mysteries when it comes to the physiological, neurological, mental and emotional inner workings of the human brain. But one thing is for certain -- athletic organizations at ALL levels have finally become acutely aware of the importance of protecting the brain. In part 1 of this fascinating 2 part training, you'll learn from Dr. Mike Olson, a nationally and internationally certified chiropractic sports physician that heads up the concussion management program at BigFork Valley Hospital in Minnesota. He will walk us through the internationally recognized return-to-sport guidelines and provide us with a step-by-step approach to managing concussion throughout every phase of the healing process.Guest Instructor: Dr. Olson is the current Allied Health Services Manager at Bigfork Valley Hospital, overseeing the daily operations of the Chiropractic Department, Rehabilitation Department and the onsite fitness center. He is a 2011 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and was hired by Bigfork Valley Hospital to develop and integrate it’s first chiropractic department. He has been employed there since 2011. He has special interests in sports injury and concussion management, peripheral nerve entrapment and various soft tissue treatment modalities and chiropractic rehabilitation. He is currently an adjunct faculty for Palmer College of Chiropractic, the team physician for Bigfork High School, and an instructor for FAKTR, having developed the Peripheral Nerve Entrapment courses and the concussion management course.  Throughout the chiropractic literature, Dr. Olson has numerous publications in peripheral nerve entrapment, concussion management, and sports-injuries.View the full webinar replay here: https://tinyurl.com/Ep77-ConcussionReplayWant to stay informed about upcoming events, special offers, new products, courses and more?
