Documentairemaker Marjolein Koster groeide op in een reformatorische gemeenschap in Zeeland. Meisjes droegen rokken, televisie was uit den boze en de toekomst leek helder: je werd moeder en dat volstond. Maar op school zag ze dat het ook anders kon, want tussen de leraren zat één vrouw die het moederschap combineerde met werk en die de meisjes in haar klas stimuleerde om zichzelf te ontwikkelen. Marjolein zocht haar op om te kijken wat ze daarmee bereikt.
