79. daniel maté
from female intern with danielle deluty · host Danielle Deluty
In this conversation Daniel touches on his experience of Jewish identity, the ups and downs of artistic endeavors, collaborating with a parent, and what a mental chiropractic adjustment is. I first encountered Daniel Maté on Instagram - I was moved by his unapologetic voice of Jewish solidarity with Palestinian liberation. I was yet more inspired to learn of his many other creative gifts - Daniel is a composer, lyricist, and playwright for musical theatre. He also runs the world’s only “mental chiropractic” service, and has co-authored the book The Myth of Normal with his father Dr. Gabor Maté. (The two are co-authoring another book called Hello Again: A Fresh Start for Parents and Their Adult Children, and run a workshop of the same name. You can find Daniel on ig @danielbmate, and you can listen to the podcast he cohosts Bad Hasbara
