7x MMA Champ discusses a rough Chicago upbringing, losing his father, & starting a nonprofit foundation

Jose 'Shorty' Torres is a 7x MMA world champion from Chicago, Illinois. Growing up on the south side of the city with a father involved in gangs, was a childhood that helped eventually lead Shorty into MMA as an escape from the daily chaos he witnessed or even experienced. Surprisingly, it was that same rough upbringing that helped Shorty naturally progress into his plethora of skills and eventually led him to winning & defending multiple championships, as well as in different weight classes. After achieving such great heights, Shorty used his networking and devoted fans, to create a non profit organization to help the people in his community. The Team Shorty Foundation helps kids, teens, and young adults stay off the streets and instead, guides them into the inside of gyms & training facilities. It helps give them a second chance at life and puts them in front of the proper role models. Shorty was one of my first guests several years ago and it was truly an awesome experience to catch back up with him and hear all about the highs & lows that he has faced since.
