Der Chemiker Marggraf staunte, als er 1774 Zucker in der Runkelrübe fand - der erste Schritt zur Kultivierung der Zuckerrübe in Preußen war damit getan. Am 8. Mai 1904 eröffnete in Berlin das erste Zuckermuseum der Welt. Denn eines ist sicher: Süßes mag der globale Gaumen.
