8. Mike Boynton: Opportunity Knocks
Despite being just 40 years old, Mike Boynton has already had a long journey in the game he loves. He started at South Carolina as a player in the early 2000s, and immediately went into coaching. Boyton stayed on the east coast, with stops at Furman, Coastal Carolina, Wofford and his alma mater before leaving to join Brad Underwood's staff at Stephen F. Austin, where he hoped to get the head coaching job. But after some early career disappointment, opportunity would arrive at Oklahoma State. Boynton just didn't know it yet. In 2017, Boynton became the 20th head coach in the history of Cowboy basketball. And he couldn't be happier to be sharing the stage with the other coaches on campus. Now in his sixth season—and with clear skies ahead—Boynton is ready to take the next step.
