8 - Self Compassion For High Achievers

from Mindset Minutes · host Colm O'Reilly

There’s a very pervasive myth in today’s society that you achieve by being constantly pushing yourself to be better, and that being nice to yourself won’t get you anywhere. Fear and anger can be powerful motivators and have worked for some. BUT if you’re angry, aggressive or demeaning to yourself, it’s going to come out towards other people!!! How you treat yourself will be reflected in the world around you in some form or another. A healthier alternative is use compassion to help drive action and achievement. Compassion at the heart of it is treating yourself the way you would your best friend who’d asked you to make them become the best version of themselves. You’d see their potential, help them get clear on what they need to do, and then encourage them as they started taking action out of their comfort zone. If they messed up, or didn’t get everything done in a day, you’d help them figure out what they needed to do differently, and create a new plan for tomorrow. You wouldn’t beat them up over it. These three elements - clear expectations, reassurance, and forgiveness - are at the heart of compassion for high achievers.  Book A Free Help Call - https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=18248924&appointmentType=11286512
