80: Chatting with Authors Shelly Buck and Kathy Curtis

from Chats from the Blog Cabin · host MELISSA VERA

Shelley Buck, wife of FROZEN and FROZEN 2 director Chris Buck, and Kathy Curtis are the authors of Leave Your Light On: The Musical Mantra Left Behind by an Illuminating Spirit. A book about Parenting, memoir, grief, and cancer. Shelley Buck was the mother of 3 boys when her oldest was diagnosed with cancer at 22 years old. What happened next was a transformation of the parent-child relationship while Shelley learned how to let Ryder deal with his diagnosis his way. Ryder ultimately beat cancer, only to lose his life later in a car accident. Ryder became the inspiration for a new character in FROZEN 2 and for one of the film’s new songs. Her new book, Leave Your Light On, is a vivid and poignant look at their journey and the intricacies of letting our loved ones be the people they are meant to be. Shelley and her co-author Kathy Curtis are now covering topics around grief and healing for audiences. They cover exploring the light our loved ones leave behind and the bridge between that light and our own healing. Grief is a mysterious emotion— it can cripple us, empower us, and at times, be a major motivator in what changes us. Kathy and Shelley talk about using the light from our passed loved ones to shape that recovery and how to use it as a tool to live with more energy and purpose.   Grab the Book Here https://amzn.to/3gIS6YG
