Marcelia and Brent met each other in 2008 in Section C at Harvard Business School, and since graduating, Brent has followed Marcelia’s journey from Invesco to EIG to Clearlake Capital. Aside from growing a successful career in investment management, Marcelia served as a Trustee of the Montgomery County Public Schools Board, as a Term Member on the Council on Foreign Relations, and as board of the National Association of Securities Professionals. Marclia is currently a board member at her alma mater at Florida A&M University. Earlier this year, Dr. Shawnta Friday called Marcelia to ask if she would deliver FAMU’s commencement address.In Marcelia’s words, “When Oprah gives a speech, she gives out cars. When Robert Smith does a commencement speech, he wipes out student debt. What was I going to do?!” Ultimately, she decided to give the newest graduates of FAMU the most real, authentic version of herself.
