83 - The Aviator (2004)

from There Will Be Duds · host There Will Be Duds

Odds and Ends: The ramifications of having a date night while your dogs are left at home; T.J. saw Puss in Boots! The… the first one, from like ten years ago. But we’ll get to the new one later; Nick is going through another classic tv show with 30 Rock; T.J. adds The Kid Detective to his list of movies he likes a lot because it fits a very specific niche genre he made up   Feature Film: We talk about Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, a biopic about famed entrepreneur/inventor/filmmaker/etc. Howard Hughes. We also talk a bit about the subject himself, because golly, did that chap sure do a lot of things outside of all that airplane guff. An Oscar-bait flick that rises above some of the more annoying trappings of similar fair, due in part to the deft direction of Scorsese, and a great lead performance by DiCaprio. Am I writing pull quotes for it here? I just ran out of stuff to say early on and the description felt a little thin. But now that I’m describing all this, I feel like it’s getting a bit too long. But if I delete it all now, I’ll be back where I started. Somehow I think I created a bootstrap paradox without using time travel. Oh god. The way of the future…     Next week’s movie: The Hidden Fortress (1958)   You can join the conversation every Wednesday at 7pm EST on Twitch and Youtube! They were young, dumb, and full of it. What followed were comedy shows so explicit, “genitalia” was practically a term of endearment.Fast forward 5 dogs, 6 cats, and way too many weird inside jokes later, Sasha and Joe are no longer young or dumb—but they’re still brimming with you-know-what. Here, they’ve teamed up to bring you a podcast where they interview a guest who passionately defends something universally hated, misunderstood, forgotten, overlooked, Mandela-effected, canceled—you name it. The key? They LOVE it. From toupees... to B-movies... to aliens, psychedelics, and the occasional surprise character, Sasha and Joe are here to spread love to the world that birthed them (but maybe should’ve used protection). So come and get that love because no one else will give it to you like we do.Also, don’t forget to check out the Patreon Bonus version of the show:https://www.patreon.com/c/ShutUpILoveItP Explicit
