#83 Travis Christofferson - Outsiders are shifting paradigms

In this episode we have the pleasure of talking with science writer Travis Christofferson. We begin by discussing the emerging paradigm of Cancer as a Metabolic disease, and how this new approach can overturn, or build on top of, the discoveries we have achieved while approaching cancer as a genetic disease. We also talk about the importance of “outsiders” coming into specific fields and the need for empathic and trust-building narratives to support cross-disciplinary collaboration. We talk about the emerging possibilities of blending human agency and intuition with the power of statistics and machines, the importance of “mindset” to utilize stress instead of being used by it, and a few other things on the science of longevity. Travis Christofferson has a degree in molecular biology and a master’s degree in material engineering and science. He is a full-time science writer and published the best selling book Tripping Over the Truth which shows how the Metabolic Theory of Cancer is overturning one of Medicine's most entrenched paradigms. He is the founder of The Foundation for Metabolic Cancer Therapies, and the co-founder of Care Oncology.
