84. Beth Elness-Hanson

from Aten och Jerusalem · host Anton Johnsson & Victor Alphonce & Annika Wilzén

Interview in English. Description below. --- This month brings cursed children and how the Maasai understand them. Beth Elness-Hanson, lecturer in the Old Testament at Johannelunds Teologiska Högskola, joins us - and what subject would then be better to discuss than intergenerational curses? "For I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me" (Ex 20:5). Isn't it very unfair of God to punish unborn children for the sins of their parents? Beth brings questions like these and work them through with Maasai theologians and what emerges is a wholly new way to understand these curses - a way that is more ubuntu!
