Dan and Garrett come out of 2016 swingin' with Dan's all-time favorite Movie Movie, Boogie Nights. Jam packed with memorable scenes, fantastic performances, and a young PT Anderson's stylish tracking shots, Boogie Nights uses the transition from film to video that the porn industry went through in the 80's to unpack the simultaneously changing movie industry, and even the actual cultural transition that was occurring in America at the time. By putting character first, Anderson made one of the most iconic films of the 90's that is equally as uplifting as it is harrowing, and ultimately reminds us that sometimes we just need to ask for help - a timeless and undervalued piece of advice.
