When Oliver was the Athletic Director at West Virginia University he hired Tina Samara to be the Women's Head Tennis Coach and they have formed a unique bond ever since. Therefore, Tina tag teams with Emma to carry out the extended interview and gain some valuable insights around the importance of travel and learning from the past. Oliver shares one of his favourite and famous quotes that he lives by, which is; "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there." When you study the past, you can learn to create the future.  What does Oliver Luck think makes a great coach? Someone who has; Love - love your sport, your players,  Knowledge - you do need to teach fundamentals. Energy - you need a lot of energy to get up for practice not just on game day! This was a really fun and interesting episode, as well as some great messages for parents, so we hope you enjoy listening to Oliver Luck.   Oliver Francis Luck is an American business executive and former football quarterback. He was the CEO and Commissioner of the XFL until it suspended operations due to the pandemic. Prior to that, he was Director of Intercollegiate Athletes at West Virginia University (WVU), his alma mater, and an executive with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in charge of the organization's regulatory functions. Luck is a retired American football player who spent five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) as a quarterback for the Houston Oilers (1982–1986). He was also the first president and general manager of the Houston Dynamo of Major League (MLS). Under his watch, the Dynamo won the MLS Cup in 2006 and 2007. Oliver has three children who all played US College sports and one of his sons, Andrew Luck, was the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback.
