#852 9 Warning Signs You're Not Eating Enough Protein! - Fix This ASAP with Ben Azadi

from The Ben Azadi Show · host Ben Azadi

Protein is arguably the MOST important macronutrient for fat loss and longevity. Approximately 40% of American adults are not meeting their protein needs. There are early warning signs that begin to appear when you’re not eating enough protein, in this video I’ll be sharing all 9 of them. I will also address the most common questions about getting enough protein, and of course the solution to making sure you get enough of this important macronutrient.  The first warning sign is cravings for junk food. The protein leverage hypothesis states that human beings will prioritize the consumption of protein in food over other dietary components, and will eat until protein needs have been met, regardless of energy content,[1] thus leading to over-consumption of foodstuffs when their protein content is low. This hypothesis has been put forward as a potential explanation of the obesity epidemic. Empirical tests have provided some evidence to confirm the hypothesis with one study suggesting that this could be a link between ultra-processed foods and the prevalence of obesity in the developed world. In 1995, Australian researcher Susanna Holt developed the concept of satiety value, a measure of how much a given food is likely to satisfy the hunger of someone. High protein foods have been found to have high satiety values, more so than carbohydrates.  When you eat enough protein you activate hormones and chemicals that signal to your brain and body… you’re full! This prevents you from overeating junk food, and snacking in between meals. Helping you of course lose weight. These hormones that get activated with protein are Cholecystokinin, leptin, peptide yy. Here’s how this works. Analogy of eating steak and then the dessert tray rolls by. There are more reasons why lack of protein leads to junk food binges… RESOURCES MENTIONED: Equip Foods: Beef protein powder and colostrum. 100% grass fed and finished beef.
