The Science of Breath with Eddie SternWelcome back Tribe, today Eddie Stern joins and he’s giving away secrets on the science of breathing.He is the author of One Simple Thing: A New Look at the Science of Yoga and How It Can Transform Your Life and world-traveling yoga teacher. We dive into his book, One Simple Thing, how his interest in science lead him to start to research and study the ideas that K. Pattabhi Jois passed down to him. After a researcher approached him about a study in hypertensive conditions in African Americans.With this first study, he continued to study the physical and mental health changes in different people across all forms of asana practice. Researching the underlying mechanisms of the effects of yoga, leading to the creation of his book. Eddie also breaks down the neurological reactions that yoga can have on the body. What happens in the body as we start to not only work on the asana aspect of the practice but the pranayama or breath work. Stay tuned too as he walks us through a brief breathing exercise.
