By analyzing thousands of murine cells, the authors identify four distinct cellular states—ranging from proliferating progenitors to mature neurons—and pinpoint their exact physical locations within the developing cerebellum's layers. A comparative analysis reveals that while SHH-type medulloblastoma cells closely mimic these natural developmental stages, the cancerous cells demonstrate a significantly reduced tendency to differentiate, favoring self-renewal instead.
