9/11 25th Anniversary: Ground Zero to LA

Hour 1 (9.11) Twenty-five years on, the names were read aloud again — 184 at the Pentagon, all 2,977 in Lower Manhattan. Tim's got the whole day, plus a nursing home burning in Glendale.  6:05 — Fire tears through a nursing home on West Mountain Street in Glendale, near Brand Park. Firefighters contained the blaze to the building; residents and a staff member were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and the cause is still unknown. Then to the 25th anniversary of 9/11: ceremonies at ground zero in New York and across the country. President Trump spoke at the Pentagon, where the names and photos of all 184 people killed there were presented.  6:20 — Nineteen al-Qaeda hijackers, four commercial airliners, three targets, one morning. Nearly 3,000 people were killed, and American foreign policy and national security were rewritten in a day.  6:35 —9.11 Memorial. A massive flag unfurled down the Pentagon wall in the rain at sunrise; the same thing first responders did on September 12, 2001. It's an emotional hour. It should be. A  6:50 — The Rams got embarrassed 27-7 by the 49ers in Melbourne. They didn't land until about 28 hours before kickoff while San Francisco had been in the country all week. A crowd of 100,021 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground watched the heaviest Super Bowl favorite in over a decade to fly 15 hours each way and spend under 40 hours on the ground.
