I recently heard this term of “quiet quitting” and to be honest I was appalled. Quiet quitting refers to people who aren’t actually quitting their jobs, they aren’t having real conversations with their managers about performance expectations, they are simply deciding “I’m not going to do that” and then not doing it and not telling anyone.

This behavior is sad and pathetic not only because it’s dishonest and disrespectful but also because it means these people aren’t getting the good feeling that comes with a honest, hard day's work. It means they are avoiding tough conversations with their bosses about burnout or expectations and just doing a half-ass job on purpose and taking a paycheck instead.

The good news is employers are more desperate than ever for people who are driven and excited. There has never been a better time to advance your career, and with a workforce full of “quiet quitters” there has never been less competition. So work hard and rocket ahead of these people because you have the opportunity of a lifetime.
