9/12/23 - Fr. Daniel Alloy, FSSP

from Ask A Priest Live · host The Station of the Cross

Fr. Daniel Alloy, FSSP has served as Parochial Vicar at Regina Caeli Parish in Houston, Texas since July of 2022. He was ordained in June of 2020.     In Today's Show What's the best way to respond to someone who thinks that a person becomes an angel when they die? Why doesn't God simply "get rid" of Satan? When being confronted by protestant "street preachers" proclaiming that there is no salvation in the Catholic church, should we as Catholics engage with these individuals and explain/debate to the best of our ability why that is not true? What are some issues in interior life that make vocational discernment difficult and what can one do to overcome them? Is God just, merciful, or both? Does He always uphold justice and show us mercy? In Confession, is it required to tell the precise number of times I have committed a certain sin? When we pray, are there types of prayer in which it is more appropriate to focus our prayers toward God the Father vs. the Son vs. the Holy Spirit? Do different forms of prayer have different efficacy? Would a mental prayer hold as much value as a prayer said aloud? How much time passed between Noah's Ark and Jesus? Is it permissible to read books of the Bible that were excluded for one reason or another, such as the Gospels of James and Thomas? Why do some priests and religious wear a ring? Is it symbolic of something? Is it possible for a non-Catholic who has lived a holy and exemplary life to be canonized a saint by the Catholic Church? How do you persevere in living the faith when you receive ridicule or banter from friends for being "too holy?"   Visit the show page at thestationofthecross.com/askapriest to listen live, check out the weekly lineup, listen to podcasts of past episodes, watch live video, find show resources, sign up for our mailing list of upcoming shows, and submit your question for Father!
