Dresden brutishly declines the offer. Slate, the Winter Knight makes an appearance to which Harry immediately asks him if he killed the Summer Knight. Slate denies doing so which results in a faceoff between him and Maeve. Harry concludes that Maeve is not the killer and then him and Billy make their way back to the beetle. Just before they get there, the two are ambushed.
