9/20/23 - Fr. Joseph Dalimata, FSSP

from Ask A Priest Live · host The Station of the Cross

Fr. Joseph Dalimata, FSSP serves as Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Church in El Paso, Texas. He was ordained in May of 2021.     In Today's Show I don't want my daughter to join the choir at her Novus Ordo school because I feel it is not reverent enough. How can I break that news to her without making her resent tradition? Most of our parishioners, as they enter the church, walk right past the tabernacle without any acknowledgement. Would it be appropriate for me to ask our pastor to give a teaching to the people about this? Do you have any step-by-step suggestions for a young man to discern a vocation for the priesthood? How can Catholics possibly "bless" one another if all blessings come from God? Why is confession so important to the Catholic church? Why is there a "Tomb of the Virgin Mary" in the Holy Land if Mary was assumed, body and soul, into heaven? Can a baby receive Confirmation if there is a fear that they may not survive past infancy? Is it a requirement for Catholics to celebrate a funeral Mass prior to interment? On a related matter, must Catholics be interred in a Catholic cemetery? Or, can this take place in a non-Catholic cemetery, so long as the grave-site or mausoleum spot is consecrated beforehand? How would you suggest that I go about finding the right devotion for me?   Visit the show page at thestationofthecross.com/askapriest to listen live, check out the weekly lineup, listen to podcasts of past episodes, watch live video, find show resources, sign up for our mailing list of upcoming shows, and submit your question for Father!
