In this episode of Double E, Elevating Entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Marie interviews Michelle Honkomp, founder and owner of VPQ, Venture Polish Quartz, a curated vintage jewelry and hair accessories business. What started as a heartfelt effort to help those in need in Puerto Rico post Hurricane Maria, sparked a vision in Michelle, which manifested into a business based on giving back! Every purchase of Michelle's jewelry and hair accessories gives back to one of her two favorite non-profits in Puerto Rico. Michelle started in 2017 and sources and curates the vintage jewelry herself- a lot of the pieces are from the 1930-1960s; she sells necklaces, hand stamped cuffs- some with motivational phrases, gold chains, earrings and hair accessories. Elizabeth's personal favorite is a hand stamped cuff, "Boss Babe"! Michelle walks us through her entrepreneurship journey, taking a roundabout approach into business as she established her business after the fact, obstacles she overcame, tips for growing your social media, empowerment for women entrepreneurs, and some great jokes!
