And then Motel breaks out in song, singing the classical, “Miracle of Miracles.” The song lists the famous miracles that G-d performed for the famous people throughout Jewish history, and then goes on to say “But of all G-d's miracles large and small The most miraculous one of all Is that out of a worthless lump of clay G-d has made a man today “Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles G-d took the tailor by the hand Turned him around and miracle of miracles Led him to the Promised Land… “But of all G-d's miracles large and small The most miraculous one of all Is the one I thought could never be - G-d has given you to me” The point here being that the greatest of miracles is when G-d performs one for me, for the individual person who is experiencing it. The verse states (-Psalms 121:5), “G-d is your shadow.” According to Kabbalah and Chassidus, what this means is that as a shadow responds to the movement of the person, so too, G-d responds to our actions. In other words, we, through our actions, can bring about that G-d perform a miracle for us. How does one do this? This lecture is based primarily on a maamor the Rebbe delivered on this Shabbat Chanukah, in 1969, exploring what the Jewish people in the times of the Syrian Greeks did in order to bring about the miracle of Chanukah
