9 - Weekly Updates (July 26th, 2019)

Dear Parents, We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements: Monday is Picture Day!  Thank you for coming to Back to School Night! It was wonderful to meet you and have you check out our classroom. Here is the fundraising information for 6th grade. There are a couple more permission slips that were sent home in the Thursday folder that I need returned (that should be it for a while). 1. Coral Health Condition Information form and 2. Mr. Gray’s Technology and Device Responsible Use Agreement Woodbury PTA Reader’s Workshop We will start a new unit on How to Outgrow Yourself as a reader. Students will continue with their independent reading books at home but we will read A Long Walk to Water together during school.  Writer’s Workshop We will celebrate the true stories your kids have written (they are great!). We will then move on to writing short fiction stories. Math We’ll continue our unit on Area and Surface Area studying the area of parallelograms and triangles. We may have our first quiz at the end of the week.  History We will continue an introductory unit on Why is History Important? This will lead into all of our work this year on Ancient Civilizations. Science We will continue our science curriculum exploring characteristics of life and different types of cells. Thank you, Mr. Gray
