#90 Distasteful Honey | From My Pen

In this episode of The Upside Down, Lori Clarke reads “Distasteful Honey,” a creative writing and exploration of memory, harm, and the long arc of healing. Through luminous storytelling and dreamlike symbolism, she reflects on how words coated in sweetness can conceal cruelty, how silence becomes a survival strategy, and how the body remembers what the mind cannot bear to hold. As the narrative unfolds—angels appear in dreamtime, curses loosen their grip, and the long-buried voice begins its return. This piece is not about revenge; it is about reclamation. About naming what once felt unspeakable, and discovering the alchemy that turns bitterness into clarity and truth. Lori closes with gentle, reflective questions to help listeners tune into their own inner landscape: the sensations, stories, and inherited silences that still shape them. If you feel stirred by this episode, let it meet you with curiosity, not pressure—an invitation to notice where healing might already be taking root.
