Nés dans la bouche de l’extrême-droite, les termes “ensauvagement”, “racaille” ou encore “barbare” sont fréquemment repris dans les sphères politique et médiatique, de manière complètement décomplexée. Ils renvoient à un imaginaire raciste et colonial selon lequel il y aurait des races inférieures, primitives, incivilisées. Pour s’intégrer à la société, le ou la barbare devrait alors, selon cette idéologie, nier sa culture, ses origines et son identité. Que désigne la figure du barbare ? Comment la réappropriation de ce terme peut-elle servir de paravent face à l’oppression raciste ? Dans quelles mesures ce motif de la barbarie est-il genré ? La violence est-elle le seul moyen dont disposent les minorités pour rétablir un rapport de force avec le pouvoir ?Pour en parler, Rokhaya Diallo et Grace Ly reçoivent la journaliste et autrice Louisa Yousfi. Partant de l’expression de l’écrivain algérien Kateb Yacine, l’invitée propose dans son essai de Rester barbare (éd. La fabrique, 2022).
