Researchers have developed a remotely controlled gene switch (Ei) that allows for the precise spatiotemporal regulation of gene expression using low-frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs). By identifying the protein Cyb5b as a primary EMF sensor, the study demonstrates that magnetic stimulation triggers unique calcium oscillations that activate target genes without the need for invasive procedures or drugs.
