畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著城（chéng）“城”会意兼形声字，本义是城墙。甲骨文的“城”，字形的左半边是两个城楼相对而立的样子，右半边是一把利刃朝左的斧头形状，合在一起的意思就是用斧刃这种武器来守卫城池。古代的城邑，四周都建有用于防御的高墙。在现代汉语中，“城”常用来指城市、都市。此外有成语“胸无城府”，这里的“城府”比喻的是难以揣测的深远用心。（城墙是城的筋骨，城府视人的城墙。）
