Ena Lucia Mariaca Pacheco is a human security researcher and author, with focused expertise in child sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. She holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of Ottawa and a master's degree in Human Security and Peacebuilding from Royal Roads University, Canada. For over a decade, she has worked at the intersection of government, civil society, international organizations, and law enforcement to advance research, policy development, and survivor-centered advocacy. Her work spans multiple global initiatives aimed at supporting victims and survivors of trafficking and child sexual exploitation.Ena Lucia has also contributed her expertise on the ground as a volunteer with non-governmental organizations operating in trafficking hotspots. During her time at the Canadian Parliament, she developed a data-tracking system that supported the drafting and passage of Bill C-310, strengthening Canada’s human trafficking legislation. Her research has also been used to inform the development of new bills, and “An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (Trafficking in Persons),” presented before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights. An experienced trainer and international speaker, Ena Lucia has presented her research at global conferences and at the United Nations. She is a published researcher, with her work featured in Child Abuse & Neglect journal’s special issue on boys.
