#92 PROJECT “UN-PROJECTING”: How to Stop Psychological Projection as a Defense Mechanism feat. Sanaiyah Gurnamal

from After 30 with Cara Eriguel

Projection or Fruedian projection is a psychological defense mechanism. Defense mechanisms are used to cope with feelings and emotions that we have trouble expressing or coming to terms with.Projection is the process of displacing ones feelings onto someone or something else. Unconscious discomfort can lead people to attribute unacceptable feelings or impulses to someone else to avoid confronting them. Projection allows the difficult trait to be addressed without the individual fully recognizing it in themselves. People project to defend their egos. So is psychological projection bad? Or can it actually be an opportunity to identify difficult emotions so that you can acknowledge and process them? Let’s dive deeper into this with our guest for this episode! She's a life designer and wellbeing coach, founder of The Third Eye Wellness (an alternative and holistic health service), and host of the Project Loving Myself podcast: Sanaiyah gurnamal!
