92. Visiting the Uncanny Valley

From robots to dolls and everything in between, we discuss the uncomfortable feeling humans get when looking at something almost human but slightly off. Its the details. The dead eyes... the human smile that goes a bit too far up... One of the most frightening things I've ever heard is when someone pointed out that the existence of the Uncanny Valley implies that at some point there was an evolutionary reason to be afraid of something that looked human but wasn't.
