She did go through moments where her confidence was tested which was related to being visible.The “AHA” MomentTara got her first taste of editing in college when her professor asked her to edit one of his writings. She fell in love with editing and was able to secure an internship at Penguin. Her love for reading books started when her mother gave her an English version of a Japanese author's books which led to her passion for reading. Tara wasn't able to highlight Asian authors at first because the industry believed there was no market for it so she started doing it little by little to get to where she is today. In addition, Tara acquires and edits her own list of titles. She currently serves on the Board of Words Without Borders and works as an Adjunct Professor at NYU. Prior to HarperCollins, Tara worked as Editor-in-Chief of Touchstone Books at Simon & Schuster and Editorial Director of Fiction at Amazon Publishing.
