Né dans des communautés rejetées et violentées par une société raciste, le hip-hop incarne aujourd’hui un des mouvements culturels les plus populaires de notre époque. Il s’inscrit pourtant dans une tradition de protestation marginalisée. À ses origines, la danse hip-hop exprimait avant tout, par le mouvement, les tensions raciales et sociales qui traversent l’espace public. Depuis, nous dit-on, le hip-hop est passé “de la rue à la scène”.Comment la récupération du hip-hop par les institutions a-t-elle fait évoluer cette danse ? Comment se faire une place dans le milieu du hip-hop en tant que femme et chorégraphe, avec tous les clichés de genre qu’on attribue à cette discipline ? Qu’est-ce que la médiatisation du hip-hop révèle du traitement des questions raciales en France ? Pour échanger sur ce sujet, Rokhaya Diallo et Grace Ly reçoivent la chorégraphe et directrice artistique Bintou Dembélé. Figure majeure du mouvement hip-hop en France depuis les années 1980, l’artiste retrace la façon dont elle a vécu l’évolution de cette discipline à mesure que cette dernière s’est professionnalisée.
